"He was a son of Miles and Patsie (Derrie) Roach, according to his obituary. (Another source gives his mother as Martha "Two Quail" Patty, a Cherokee.)
He married (1) Sarah Isabelle Eller _____. They had two known sons: Samuel and Walter Roach. Sam and Sarah were divorced before 1900 and she then married Charles Daniel Hollifield.
Samuel married (2) Mrs. Sallie (Yeargin) Robertson on April 22, 1900, in Hart County, Georgia. No known children.
At the time of his death, he was survived by a sister, Lillie Keenan Pace of Greenville, SC, as mentioned in his obituary. She is buried in Graceland West Cemetery in Greenville, South Carolina."
