Marriage to Calvin Buddie Hinton

On Saturday, 6 Aug 1927, at the home of Dr. R. T. Marsh, in Chesterfield County, Virginia, Doris Ella Ellett married Calvin Buddie Hinton, son of William Anderson Hinton (18 Feb 1881 - 5 Oct 1951) and Lillie Frances Hatchett (16 Aug 1883 - 30 Nov 1958). [1]

She was the widow of Robert Nuel Swift Sr., who passed away on Dec. 29, 2002. The Swifts were married on March 30, 1940 at Branches Baptist Church, and lacked one day of being married 62 years and 9 months. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hopewell since 1940 and was born Oct 27, 1915. Her children are Robert (Bobby) Nuel Swift Jr., Doris Mae Blevins and Douglas Roger Swift. She was always a soft spoken, gentle Christian lady. Her grandchildren are Laura Jones Sylvester, Christy Jones, Melanie Jones and David Swift. The great-grandchildren are Sydney Sylvester, Jack and Sam Sylvester, and Aaron Jones. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight, Oct 8, at Nelsen Funeral Home-Gould Chapel, 214 N. Sixth Ave. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Hopewell, at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. The Rev. Jeff Raymond officiating.
