Biography

Nicknamed "Reds" because he supposedly had flaming red hair.

"REDS" ELLIOT was born Abt. 1758 in Scotland, and died between 1810 - 1820 in Wolfsville, Frederick Co., MD. He was the common law husband of Hannah Prior (1760-1839) (also listed as Prior/Pryor/Pryer).


They had 11 known children who all took the Prior/Pryor name. Children were:

  • BENJAMIN PRYOR, b. September 20, 1807, Wolfsville, Frederick Co., MD; d. February 01, 1882, Wolfsville, Frederick Co., MD.
  • ELIZABETH PRYOR, d. April 22, 1841.
  • MARY PRYOR, d. August 08, 1848.
  • PETER PRYOR.
  • SUSANNA PRYOR, d. June 05, 1872, Burial: Wolfsville, Frederick Co., MD; m. GEORGE STOTTLEMYER, February 08, 1814.
  • MARGARET PRYOR, m. JOHN AUGUSTINE.
  • SAMUEL PRYOR.
  • JAMES PRYOR, apparently married and settled in the area of Hancock, Washington Co., MD;
  • HANNAH PRYOR.
  • WILLIAM PRYOR.
  • JACOB PRYOR, b. September 12, 1805, Wolfsville, MD; d. May 11, 1889.

Plot: unmarked in graveyard on private farm behind a stable/barn on the Brandenburg Hollow Rd., near Wolfesville MD. Some stones are more like field stones, others are tombstones but names are illegible or completely worn off.
