Biography

David Eliot or Elliot was the son of Robert T. Elliot and Mary Rainey, born approx., 1731 in Enniskillen, Fermanagh, Ireland[1]

David Elliot married Mary Sanderson[1]

It is assumed that David Elliot immigrated with his family in 1737/8 from Ireland to Pennsylvania; there is an immigration record for a Robert Elliot in 1737/8; again assuming this immigration record is for Robert Elliot the father[2]

David Eliot or Elliot was alive in 1768 and was mentioned in the will of his father Robert Eliot or Elliot, in the Chester County, Pennsylvania Wills[3]

Dr David Elliot, grandson to Robert Elliot, the emigrant in a Memoranda written by him on the ancestors and descendants of the family of Robert Elliot (1695); describes David Elliott, son of Robert as a man "of medium stature, well-proportioned bodily frame, of easy manners, and a pleasant expression of face"[4]

David Elliot, of Middleton Township, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania; age 73, died September 22, 1804'[4]

Dr David Elliot quotes the obituary for David Elliot taken from the Carlisle paper of Oct 5, 1804 "Died on Saturday, the 22nd of September, 1804, David Elliott, of Middleton Township, Cumberland County, Pa., in the 73rd year of his age. He had, thro’ life, supported an excellent character. He was remarkable for a meek and gentle temper, was a kind husband, an affectionate father, and a steady friend. He was a Ruling Elder in the church, and gave the most pleasing evidence - - - particularly in the near view of another world . . . of his steady faith in the Redeemer, and his hope of eternal life.”'[4]
