William Elliot, son of Robert T. Elliot and Mary Rainey, born approx. in 1732, Enniskillen, Fermanagh, Ireland; he died about 1788 in Cumberland Pa[1]

William Elliott and the names of his siblings are supported by the will of their father Robert Elliot, in his will proved Jan 7, 1768, in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania[2][3]; filed in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania; Register of Wills[4][5]

An immigration record for 1737/8 for a Robert Elliot from Ireland to America was found, but it is not certain if the Robert Elliot in the record is the same Robert Elliot shown as the father of William.[6]

If the immigration record for Robert Elliot is relevant, then William would have been 5/6 years old upon arriving in the states.

William's father was found in Middlesex, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, "and he is shown as one of the earliest settlers of Middlesex township, arriving in 1737; and known as a pioneer and frontiersman of that time[7]

Dr David Elliot in 1872 wrote a Memoranda on the Ancestors and Descendants of Robert Elliot (1695), grandson to Robert and son of Thomas; says he remembers very little of William Elliot, and believes he and his brother Robert Elliot Jr., moved to North or South Carolina, and that it seems communication between the families has been lost over time.[8]

If the is true, then the death of William Elliot occurring in 1788, Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania must be for another William Elliot named living in the same area, around that time.
