Philip was born about 1715, to Thomas Elliot and Mary (Lock) Elliot. His middle name of Lock was his mother's maiden name. He first married the widow Sarah (Day) Wright on 22 Dec 1752. They had two sons, James and Thomas. Unfortunately, Sarah died, some time after Thomas' birth in 1755, and before Philip remarried in 1762. The most likely scenario is she died of childbirth issues shortly after Thomas was born, as she would have only been in about 35, but this is only conjecture she could have lived several years more and died of something completely different. Philip then married to Sarah Sparks on 03 Sep 1762. With his second wife, he had 5 more children, 2 daughters, Sarah Ann and Ruth; and 3 boys, Joshua, Jesse and Simon. He executed his will on 26 Jul 1776, and died sometime between then and 27 Mar 1777, when his will was probated.
