Malinda Elliot was born in 1809 in Surry County, North Carolina, USA. She was the daughter of Washington Elliott and Mary "Polly" Pinnix (aka "Penick" or "Penix") Elliot, who were married in Surry Co., NC on Feb, 25, 1805. Malinda had a brief first marriage (1827-1829) to a Mr. ________ Williams in Surry Co., NC. No children came from that marriage. The Elliot, Williams and Bonine families were all Quakers.
On February 25, 1830, Malinda Elliot (widow of Mr. Williams) was married to Isaac Bonine, in Delaware, Wayne County, Indiana. The couple moved first to Iowa, then to Illinois and had 8 children:

Lourana BONINE b: May 13,1838 in DeWitt Co., Illinois (twin with Prudence) ; m. William Wagner; d. 1923 in Union Co., Oregon
Cyrus Overton BONINE b: 1839 in DeWitt Co., Illinois; d. 1930
Melissa Melvina BONINE b: 1843 in Logan Co., Illinois; m. Jacob Schoonover; d. 1922 in Cass Co., Minnesota
Rachel BONINE b: 1846 in Logan Co., Illinois; d. March 20, 1862 in Mason Co., Illinois, at 15 years old.
Malinda (Elliot) Bonine died on October 2, 1862, in Mason County, Illinois. This was just six months after the loss of her daughter Rachel, age 15. They are buried next to each other at Fairview Cemetery, Bath, Mason County, Illinois, USA.[1]
