(3) Ray Balfour wrote notes on his personal research and considerations for others researching the same ancestral line(s) for Robert Elliot (1647-1725)on his personal family tree in Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project: Link: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rsbalfour&id=I... as follows: "A considerable amount of confusion seems to have arisen among researchers of these members of the Elliot family, and it is my belief that the confusion has arisen out of a failure to recognize that "Robert Elliot, 2nd Laird of Midlem Mill (1647-1725), had two sons named Robert, one born in 1681 and the other born in 1695. If my belief is correct, then I see no conflicts among the numerous reports from genealogy researchers"'.
