Biography

Gilbert Elliot of Midlem Mill, eldest son of Robert Elliot 2nd Laird of Midlem Mill and Elizabeth; died in 1709 before his father who died by Sept 1725[1]

Ray Balfour stated in below named source: "Gilbert (1679-1709), being the oldest son of Robert Elliot (1647-1725), would have become the 3rd Laird of Midlem Mill, but he died before his father died and so the title of 3rd Laird went to the next oldest son, who was Robert (1681-1753)"'
