Frederick Joseph Elliott was born on 2nd May 1919 in Balmain, New South Wales, Australia.

He served in the Royal Australian Air Force during the Second World War; enlisted 10th June 1941, discharged 27th November 1945. His final posting was to No.3 Aircraft Depot Amberley as a Leading Aircraftman. [1]

In 1946 in Bankstown, New South Wales, he married Elsie Eather, only daughter of decorated Australian Major General Kenneth Eather. [2] Talk about being in awe of one's father-in-law!
