A son, Benjamin W. Elliott was born September 28, 1861. Caleb and Sophia's daughter Sophia was born April 20, 1864 and died June 16, 1864 just a few days after her mother Sophia died May 1, 1864.

On May 3, 1866 Mary Elizabeth gave birth to a baby girl. They named her Elizabeth E. Elliott. The mother died eleven days after the baby was born and the baby only survived three months.^[4]
