Simon was born in 1852. He was the son of James Elliott and Elizabeth Elliott.
Simon emigrated to America in 1873 (Census 1900) and settled in Delaware, Pennsylvania.
On 5 August 1875 he married Jane Hanlon, also from Ireland. Jane was the daughter of Moses Hanlon. Simon was 21 and Jane aged 22. Their marriage took place at the Church of the Mediator at Lehigh, Allentown, witnessed by Andrew Elliott and Ellen Elliott.
At the time of the 1880 Census Simon and Jane had 2 children, Elizabeth and John. Also living with the family was Elizabeth's brother William Hanlon.
Simon and Jane had 8 known children, Elizabeth (Bessie), John, James, Thomas, Rebecca, Jane, Margaret and Simon. The Elliott family lived at 1828 Lovering Ave.
In the 1920 Census their daughter Elizabeth, husband John J Woods and their two children are living with them
Simon was employed as a Labourer in a Furnace factory in Pennsylvania and later as a Papermaker for a manufacturing company.
In 1920 Simon was widowed when Jane passed away aged 67.
Simon Elliott passed away in 1926 aged 73 at New Castle, Delaware. His daughter, Elizabeth Woods of 1828 Lovering Avenue was the informant of his death.
Seven months later, his brother Thomas also died at 1828 Lovering Ave.
