Rose, daughter of Thomas Elliott and Hannah Greaves, was born c 1885 in Busselton, Western Australia, Australia.
The family moved to Greenbushes. She and her sister, May are among the first students at the school (photo at the Battye Library).
She married Con Yates in 1903 and had six sons.
Con died in 1924 and her son, Stan left school to drive her peddlars van.
She also had a shop. My mum remembered helping her Nan Yates make ice cream when on a visit to Greenbushes during the war. She said you would hear the slap, slap of a football and know that Graham (Polly) Farmer was coming for his ice-cream.
In later years she had a boarder, P Coady - Mum wondered if they were something more, although he always slept outside when she came to stay.
Rose died in the Embleton nursing home.
