According to the marriage, Dorothy is from Easterton, in the parish of Market Lavington, Wiltshire, England. Unfortunately, the parish records for Market Lavington only survive from 1673. It is highly unlikely that she is from elsewhere. There will be a number of women in England at this time with the same, fairly common name.

Dorothy may be the daughter of Robert Elliott and Alice Taylor born May 17, 1640 in Howden, Yorkshire, England or the daughter of William Elliott and Anna Roberts born 24 April, 1642 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. She married Thomas Andrews in Urchfont, Wilsthire on January 23, 1659.^[2]
