Biography
When Letitia Elliott was born about 1841, in County Cavan, Ireland, her father, William Elliott, was 42 and her mother, Mary Moore, was 43.
She married John Wilson Christie on 28 September 1870, at Munros Gully, in Otago, New Zealand.
They were parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters:–
- John Christie (b. 1872)
- Jane Wilson Christie (b. 1873)
- Mary Moore Wilson Christie (b. 1875)
- Robert Christie (b. 1877)
- William Wilson Christie (b. 1879)
- James Christie (b. 1880)
- Christina Christie (b. 1883)
She died on 28 April 1927, in Roslyn, Dunedin, New Zealand, at the age of 87, and was buried in the Lawrence Cemetery, Lawrence, Clutha, New Zealand; Presbyterian Section.
Research
Another boy named David Christie was born on 7 March 1893 in Blue Spur, Otago, New Zealand. His Military Personnel File gives his parents as Letitia (Elliott) (1841-1927) and John Wilson Christie (1838-1912). (A birth record states his mother is Jane (NR Father) 1893/9073). I have a hunch that Jane Wilson Christie had David out of wedlock and Letitia & John Wilson adopted him
