"DIED—In Morgan county, on the 24th ult. [ult=month previous], Mr. GEORGE ELLIOTT, in the 54th year of his age, leaving an extensive connexion to lament his exit. In all the relations in which man stands towards his brother man, Mr. Elliott was conspicuous. His feelings as a father and a husband were those of pure affection, and his principles as a member of the community in which he lived, were those of an honest and upright man."

Comment [JWL]: Birthdate of 1769 derived from this obituary. He could possibly have been born in first few weeks of 1770 before Jan 24 and still be 54 at time of death. Many other Elliott genealogical sources including DAR say George Jr. was born c.1750, however that date conflicts with the detail that his parents did not marry until 1756/7 and George was their SIXTH child (see George Elliott Sr's page), so the 1769 fits with those details.

George was born about 1769. He passed away about 1824.
