Alfred was born in Seaford, Sussex, England in 1899, son of Alfred and Matilda Elliott. [1][2]
On 27 Dec 1899, Alfred married his wife Edith in Seaford, Sussex.[2][3] Throughout their marriage, they had four children: Tony, Joyce, Arthur, and Terry.[1]
The Elliott family (then Alfred, Edith, son Anthony and daughter Muriel) first emigrated to Canada aboard the SS Montrose, departing Southampton, England on 15 Mar 1930; arriving St John, NB on 23 Mar 1930. The ship manifest shows intent was to make Canada their permanent residence; however, for unknown reasons, they returned to England a short time later. [4]
On 21st Feb 1947, The Elliott family, consisting of Alfred and Edith, with sons Arthur and Terry emigrated to Canada; departing the Port of Southampton, England and arriving in Halifax, NS. Anthony remained behind in England at this time, still serving in the Royal Marines, and Joyce remained with her husband. [5]
In May of 1947, they were joined by their daughter and son-in-law (Joyce and Herbert) who had just emigrated to Canada. In the spring of 1948, procuring a large truck, the entire family then spent the next several months working their way across Canada, eventually arriving in British Columbia. [2]
Alfred died in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada in 1976.[2][6]
