Julitia/Julieta/Julia was born on the 23rd of May, 1757, at Dedham, Suffolk County (now Norfolk), MA, to Col. Timothy Ellis Sr. & Elizabeth Ellis.[1][2]
Julia (as she is known in the Genealogy of the Balch Families in America, by Galusha Balch, pg. 70 & the death record of her son Adin.) was married the 4th of December, 1785, at Keene, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, to Benjamin Balch.[3]
There is no direct reference that states that the "Jula" Ellis who married Benjamin Balch was a the dau. of Timothy Ellis, but no other option has been found to account for Julia. However, both Timothy & Benjamin were of Keene, NH, & Timothy signs as a witness on a deed involving the settlement of Andrew Balch's estate, the father of Benjamin Balch.[4]
Julia & Benjamin end up in Lunenburg, Essex County, Vermont, by 17th of September 1798, as Benjamin signed a petition at Lunenburg for a land tax to repair & build roads.[5] She is presumed to be with Benjamin in the 1800 & 1810 VT Censuses at Lunenburg, as there is no record of Benjamin remarrying. It is further presumed that she died after 1810 because Benjamin Balch does not have a woman living with him the correct age in the 1820 VT Census, Lunenburg. However, no death record has been found for either her or Benjamin in Vermont vitals & there are no known burials for them either.
