Biography

William James "Jim"[1] Ellis was born 01 Apr 1837[2] in Alabama[3] to Mr. Ellis and Nancy Miller.[4]

He served as a private in Co D, 15th Alabama Cavalry in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War.[2]

He married Mary Jane Castleberry on 13 Oct 1868 in Conecuh County, Alabama[5][6][7][8][9][1][10][3] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. Nannie Ellis was born about 1870 and died 03 Dec 1957 in Brewton, Escambia County, Alabama.[9]
  2. Meta Jane Ellis was born in 1872 and died 16 Dec 1965 in Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama.[7]
  3. Elizabeth Ellis was born 16 Sep 1874 and died 16 Feb 1939 in Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama.[1]
  4. William J. Ellis was born 14 Dec 1875 in Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama and died 16 Jul 1950 in Ohio.[8][3]
  5. Daisy Ellis was born Sep 1879 in Alabama[3] and died 18 Jul 1961 in Brewton, Escambia County, Alabama.[10]
  6. Julia Ann Ellis was born 23 Sep 1881 in Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama and died 07 Jun 1940 in Beeville, Bee County, Texas.[6]
  7. Jessie Ellis was born Aug 1884 in Alabama.[3]
  8. Paul S. Ellis was born Feb 1887 in Alabama.[3]

William died 04 Aug 1910[11][12] and is buried in Buffington Cemetery, Castleberry, Conecuh County, Alabama.[2]
