Biography

Ida Ellis (1873) married David Stewart (1857) of Georgetown. They bought the store and house from Dr. Campbell, living in an apartment over the store for a period of time. They operated the store and then moved into the house, at a later date, after the Campbell's moved to Alberton to start a practice. David and his first wife had 2 children: -Ella E. (1890) -David L. (1893) David and Ida had a family of eight: -John Ellis (1895) married Josephine Cameron of Charlottetown and had one daughter, Marjorie. -Mabel (1896) married Reagh Williams of MacNeill Mills and had two children: David and Fern. -James Clayton (1897) not married. -Susan Myrtle (1899) married Forbes Ellis of O'Leary and had one daughter, Iris. -Etta (1900), not married, was a teacher, died young of cancer.. -Carrie married Roy Ellis of East Bideford. They had two children: Wyman and Joan. -Hartford married Christine Emery. They had four children: Marion, Jennie, Eddie, John -Glenn married widower Herman Dyment[1]


The deceased was born at Northam Sept. 8th, 1873, the eldest daughter of John and Susan (Keye) Ellis and lived her lifetime in the community of her birth. On January 1st, 1895, she married David Stewart, general merchant at Northam, and assisted him in his business, being a true helpmate to him until his death...Surviving brothers and sisters: Hartford, Tyne Valley; Dan Ellis, Everett, Massachusetts; John A., New Glasgow, NS; Edwin, New Yrok; Stanford, BC; Carrie, Mrs. Luther Williams; Etta, Mrs. C. J. McArthur, Conway[2]

Died at 78. 23 JUN 1950.
