James Henry Ellis (1846), son of James and Marion (MacArthur) Ellis of Bideford, moved to Northam and married Clarinda Gorrill (1856) daughter of Richard and Mary Ann Gorrill also of Northam. On one occasion when Clarinda was on her way to the spring for water, she met a bear she had to retreat very carefully back to the house. They had 13 children. There to Here, by Roy Newcombe
