Cornelius Edmund was born in 1852. He is the son of James Ellis and Marion MacArthur.

Edmund may have been the Edmund Ellis, age 28, living in New Brunswick in the 1881 census. Also boarding in the same household was an Alexander McDougall from PEI. In July 1881, Edmund Ellis went to the States.

He was living with his niece Edna Cutcliffe in the 1900 US census. He was a ship carpenter and a widower. I was unable to find a record of a previous marriage in New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire or Massachusetts. He said he had emigrated in 1870, but I could find no trace of him in the United States until 1900.

A widower, Edmund C. Ellis, married Abbie M. Davis in 1905 in Boston. He died of pneumonia in 1909. Abbie Davis Ellis said on the 1910 US census that she was the mother of one living child. Alice Mary Ellis gave her parents' names as Cornelius Edmund and Abbie on her marriage record. Alice Mary could have been adopted; she could have been her father's daughter from his first marriage; or she could have been Abbie's daughter, born before her marriage to Cornelius Edmund.

Also living with the widowed Abbie in 1910 in her boarding house were William Sullivan 50, Thomas Ellis 56 - her brother in law, Reuben Ellis 20, and Watson Diamond 36 - Reuben Ellis and Watson Dyment were both from Northam, Prince Edward Island.

Born PEI Bap Index; died at 53 years 3 months, on death certificate. 13 FEB 1852. Lot 12, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Died ship carpenter. 25 FEB 1909. Massachusetts, United States.
