Montague Mardoc was the son of Sophia Hill and Montague Ellis of Nelson. He was baptised at Broxbourne, Hertford on 14 July 1847.
The family emigrated to New Zealand and in 1880 he married to Mary Livick.
Montague operated as a Store Keeper and was a Licensee of the Post Office Hotel and previously the Golden Fleece Hotel and Bush Tavern. [1]
Montague died in 1903 and is buried at Aorere Cemetery in Collingwood. BLK C, PLOT 6.
