Mr. D. LaVon Ellis, 80, of Dallas City, IL passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at 5:10 PM at his home.

He was born June 9, 1932 near Raritan, IL, the son of Loyd and Hallie Creola Melbourn Ellis. On March 31, 1955 he married June E. Zern in Carthage, IL.

Mr. Ellis was a 1950 graduate of the Terre Haute, IL High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the US Air Force from 1952 - 1956. He worked for the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. LaVon served on the Dallas City Fire Department and the City Council for many years.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Denise (Larry) Bland of Quincy, IL and two grandsons, Konnor and Parker Bland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Ellis and one sister, Patsy Shappell.
