Biography

This profile is part of the Ellis Name Study.

Isaac A. Ellis was born on 12 January 1821 to Isaac C. and Rebecca (Copeland) Ellis in Silver Creek Township, Greene County, Ohio.

Isaac's father died in 1848, and on 17 January 1849, Isaac Jr. petitioned for a division of his real estate between himself, his siblings or their heirs, and his step-mother Amanda.[1] See Isaac C. Ellis' profile for a summary of the case.

Isaac married Eura Hardesty, daughter of Isaac and Eura (Savage) Hardesty,[2][3] perhaps around 1848.

In 1850, Isaac and Eura had his brother and sister Henry and Emily Ellis in their household in Richland, Clinton County, Ohio.[4]

In 1860, they were in Evans Township, Marshall County, Illinois.[5]

Shortly before 1870, they arrived in Grand River Township Cass County, Missouri.[6]

In 1880 they were in Magnolia, Putnam County, Illinois.[7]

They removed to Shannon City, Iowa, shortly thereafter, where Isaac died on 14 November 1883.[8]

Eura died on 10 December 1915.[9][10]
