Biography

John Ellis was the owner of Ellis Plantation in Oglethorpe County, GA. It was very large with up to 100 enslaved African Heritage ancestors from time to time. In 1851, it was recorded that he owned 54 enslaved people which is also the number enumerated in the 1850 slave schedule. Please see Ellis Plantation for information about the enslaved.

He passed away about 1851.
