James Ellis is Notable.

James A. Ellis was the mayor of Ottawa, Ontario, from 1904 to 1906 and a Member of the Provincial Parliament of Ontario from 1911 to 1914.^[1]

Born in 1865 in England, he was the son of James and Margaret (Hall) Ellis.^[2] In 1881, he was recorded in the census living in Colne, Lancashire, with his widowed mother; an older sister, Nancy, who was a milliner; an older brother, Willie, who was an assistant school master; and a younger brother, Thomas. ^[3]

He married Catherine Fishwick (1863-1916).^[4][5]

He died in 1934 and was buried at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa. At the time of his death, he was a lawyer.^[6]
