Arthur was born in 1644. He was the 2nd son of Richard Ellis.

He was educated by Mr Golbourne of Dublin and entered Trinity College Dublin on 6 July 1659, aged around 15. Sch 1660, B.A. 1660, M.A. 1666. ^[1]

He succeeded his father Richard Ellis and was collated Prebendary of Kilrane (Ferns and Leighlin) on 11 March 1666 [1667] and installed on 19th March. [D. Reg.]

Arthur married Elizabeth Houston.

He appears to have died in 1676, without a will, as there is a probate record dated 13 October 1676. ^[2]
