Etta Artemissia Ellis was born on November 5, 1872, in Center Hill, Houston, Texas, United States, daughter of Byanthy Woodville Ellis (1838–1887) and Louisa Elizabeth Hardy Wooten (1842–1890).

In 1880, Etter (7) M was in the household of B W Ellis in Precinct 4, Houston, Texas. [1]

Etta (19) married William Wallace Wills (43) (born on June 11, 1848 in Polk, Texas) on April 17, 1892 in Houston.[2] Their children were:

Etta (36) married John Edward LaRue (36) (born on August 7, 1872 in Houston Co., Texas; son of Hiram Harris LaRue and Sarah Ann (Allbright) LaRue) on January 2, 1909 in Houston County, Texas.[4] Their children were:

Etta died on January 15, 1967 in Crockett, Houston, aged 94. She was buried in Center Hill Cemetery, Crockett, Houston County, Texas.[5] [6]
