Karen Drake
Susie was my dad's mother. She was a sweet, kind woman, never known to raise her voice or become angry. Grandma only cut her hair once that she remembered. All of her grandchildren loved to brush her hair when she would let it down. It reached almost to her ankles. She plaited it in two long braids that she would then wind around her head securing with bobby pins. The ends of the braids were secured with the hair that came out when she brushed it. The one time she cut her hair she was about 25. She had been having terrible headaches and a doctor told her it was because of her hair and to cut it. She let it grow out again and never even had it trimmed.
