George Henry Ells[1] was born in Medford, Kings County, Nova Scotia on 3 March 1857[2] and died in nearby Habitant, Kings County on 9 August 1909[3]. He married in Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia on 18 July 1883, Augusta H. Simpson.[4]
George was the son of Judah W. Ells and Rosannah (Hazel) Ells. He may have been a student in Boston, Massachusetts in 1870,[5] and a pressman living at 176 Arlington in nearby Chelsea in 1876,[6] then by 1881 he was in Amherst, Cumberland, Nova Scotia working as a house joiner.[7] He married Augusta Simpson in Amherst in 1883, then worked there as a carpenter and millwright until after 1901.[8][9][10] Late in life he returned to Habitant near his birthplace to farm. He died there and is buried in the Baptist Cemetery nearby Upper Canard, Kings County.

↑ There are several George Ells in the Nova Scotia census of 1871, so it's possible the Boston student may have been another George Ells. But the George H. Ells living at 176 Arlington Street in Chelsea, Massachusetts and working as a pressman in 1876 makes it more likely that this is the same George.
