Susanna was a Friend (Quaker) who attended the Henrico Monthly Meeting in Virginia
Susanna was born about 1750 in Henrico County, Virginia. Her parents were Joseph Ellyson and Mary (Binford) Ellyson.[1]
Notes from the women's meeting held on 5 August 1770 at White Oak Swamp, [Henrico, Virginia], state that Thomas Jordan and Susanna Ellyson had for the first time declared their intentions of marriage with each other; representatives were appointed "to enquire into her clearness and make report to next meeting."[2]
Notes from the 3 September 1770 women's meeting held at White Oak Swamp [Henrico, Virginia], record that Thomas Jordan and Susanna Ellyson were both cleared for marriage and had for the second time declared their intent to marry. Representatives from the meeting were appointed to attend the marriage.[3]
Thomas and Susanna married soon after 1 September 1770.[4]
