When Stephen Allison Elmer was born on July 18, 1784, in Goshen, New York, his father, William, was 26 and his mother, Mary, was 21. He had one son and two daughters with Sena Elmer between 1818 and 1827. He died on April 5, 1860, having lived a long life of 75 years.
Note N146Information from a web posting by Florence Secor: b. 1785 in VT. He appears in the 1810 census in Henderson, Jefferson Co., NY as Elmore. Stephen died 1860 and is buried Bishop Street Cemetery in Henderson. After the 1810 census he was listed as Elmer. Also in the 1810 census for Henderson, there was a Benjamin and a John listed as Elmer. No further record of Benjamin. John d. 1849 at age 33 and is buried in the Bishop Street Cemetery.
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Stephen by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
