Biography
Jacob Elton bought a commission in the army, joining the 11th Foot as a Lieutenant.
In 1799 he married Charlotte, daughter of Rear Admiral Sir William Young, and sister of Admiral James Young. They had three sons and five daughters and lived at The Grove in Halstead, Essex, England.
After Charlotte's death, Jacob Elton married Anna Maria Boyfield and they had two sons and three daughters.
Eventually they separated and Jacob went to live in Witham, Essex. Anna stayed at The Grove.
This branch was known as the Dedham Eltons.
Jacob Elton died in 1856. [1]
