Ebenezer Elwell, was the son of Samuel and Esther/Hester (Dutch) Elwell, born Feb. 29, 1671. (p. 362)[1] He married Jane Elwell on Jan. 2 ,1695 and had seven children. Jane was the daughter of John and Jane (Durin) Elwell, born Feb. 23, 1671-2 ("23 : 11 m : 1671"), at Salem, Massachusetts.[2][3] He was some time held in captivity by the French and died before 1723. Ebenezer Elwell, son of Ebenezer and Jane, born Mar. 1, 1701-2, at Gloucester, Massachusetts;[5] died "at sea, June ––, 1720, a. abt. 18 y."[6]
