Biography

Seth, son of Seth Ely and Lydia Reynolds , b. 1765 Lyme, Conn; d. 1847; m. 14 April, 1799, Phebe Marvin, who was b. 28 Nov., 1772, at Lyme (d. 1852), second daughter of Elisha Marvin and Elizabeth Seldon, and granddaughter of Col. Samuel Seldon, of the army of the Revolution, and Elizabeth Ely, his wife. They were first cousins, once removed. They settled at Lyme and subsequently removed to Ripley, N. Y. He d. 11 Dec, 1847.

1. Selden Marvin, b. 1800, d. 1861, m. 1825 Esther Statira Griffin.

2. Elizabeth Colt, b. 1802, d. 1855, m. 1832 Rufus Hills.

3. Phebe Hubbard, b. 1804, m. 1827 Matthew Griswold.

4. Lydia, b. 8 April, 1807, at Lyme, d. 7 Sept. 1807.

5. Seth Elisha, b. 1808, m. 1845 Eliza Ann Hale.

6. Ebenezer, b. 181 1, d. 1822.

7. Abigail Deborah, b. 1813, d. 1879, m. 1848 Henry M. Gregory; m. 1865 Abner Lord Ely, 24618.
