Thomas was a Friend (Quaker)

Thomas Ely was born on 20 Jan 1714 in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey, son of Hugh Ely (1689 - 1771) and Mary (Hewson) Ely (~1689 - ~1753).^[1]

The only source for his full birthdate is from FAG which is unsourced. The book on the Ely family gives a birthdate of 1713.

His siblings were:

3. Anna Ely (1718 - ~1762)

Thomas married Sarah Lowther , daughter of William Lowther and Martha Vastine Laybourne, on 22 Jan 1734 in Buckingham, Bucks, Pennsylvania, British Colonial America. The marriage took place at the Buckingham Monthly Meeting and was attended by both of his parents who signed as witnesses.^{[2] [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]}

In 1773 he received a certificate of removal for himself, wife and minor children to the Deer Creek Monthly Meeting in Maryland.^[10] Their children were:
