Benjamin Ely, Simsburg, Conn., b. 1765, d. 1852, son of Ezra Ely and Anna Stirling; m. 1796 Polly Pettibone, Bloomfield, Conn., who was b. 1776, d. 1850, dau. of Dudley Pettibone and Mary Latimer. Their children :

1. Ezra Stiles, b. 1797, d. 1863, m. 1835 Rachael Smith; m. 1837 Lavinia Cornish.

2. Edwin Dwight, b. 1798, d. 1832.

3. Mary Ann, b. 1800, d. 1875.

4. Henry, b. 1802, d. 1849, m- 1833 Caroline St. John.
