When George Emerick was born on August 3, 1792, in Ghent, New York, his father, Johan, was 42 and his mother, Catarina, was 37. He had four sons and five daughters with Nancy Rose between 1821 and 1839. He died on April 26, 1849, in Walworth, Wisconsin, at the age of 56, and was buried there.
