Biography

Né au Saskatchewan en 1922, Amédée fut le fils de Herve Emery et de Marie Cheff .

Il a été instituteur dans les paroisses de St-Joachim, Grande Pointe et Pain Court avant de prendre sa retraite de l'enseignement en juin 1978. En plus de se dévouer à l'enseignement, il a également joué l'orgue à l'église de Pain Court pendant de nombreuses années lors des célébrations quotidiennes. Il avait ainsi succédé à sa mère Mme Marie Emery (née Cheff) qui elle aussi avait donné de ses talents musicaux à l'Eglise par esprit de service et de dévotion durant 57 ans (de 1905 a 1962). Son fils Amédée avait prit généreusement la relève le premier dimanche de juillet 1962 pour prendre sa retraite le dernier dimanche de juin 2002.

M. Emery avait aussi une passion pour l'histoire et la généalogie qu'il partageait avec quiconque voulait écouter. Il faisait partie de la Société Généalogique de l'Ontario et il est presque certain que les archives et les reliures entassées dans sa maison contenaient le tracé généalogique de toutes les familles de la région.

Décédé en 2006, il repose au cimetière de Pain Court.


OBITUARY

EMERY, Joseph Amedee At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham, on Saturday, July 8, 2006, Joseph Amedee Emery, age 84, of Pain Court.

Born in Marcelin, Saskatchewan, on June 15, 1922, son of the late Marie (Cheff) and Herve Emery, he was a retired school principal, organist and geneologist.

He will be sadly missed by brother Alphe of Ottawa, 4 nieces and 6 nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Mozart (1972). Friends and relatives may call at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S., Chatham, from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and again on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where Parish Prayers will be offered 3 p.m. on Monday. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Pain Court. Burial will be the church cemetery. Amedee always gave Mass offerings for others and would appreciate them. Online condolences welcomed at www.peseski.com
