No father is indicated on Martha's baptism register.

Our information comes initially from the research at SLC by Pat Morrison and her mother Margaret Orpet Foster.

Pat Morrison writes:

"I would like to see the Will if there is one on Martha Emery's mother Barbara as Martha had money and she her self had a Will. Martha owned property probably down around Botley or Bishops Waltham. She was a housekeeper in her years and I wouldn't think that would make funds enough for her to be an owner of property. Possibly if we saw her Will it would tell us more.

Miss Jane Smyth sometimes of South Hampton house in Bloomsbury gave canton ? book for y e Communion table Good Friday April 3, 1681.

Some of that I can't make sense of but this was taken out of the Botley register and it had a lot of Smith and Emery stuff in it and this is the tape that I want a copy of. Very hard to read so it would take lots of time. When I go back SLC I will have a hard copy made so I can view it."
