Burial: 12 Aug 1942. Forest Hill Cem, Kansas City, Missouri.

Name, birth: 1875 Census for Kansas, Ft. Scott, Bourbon Co.

Death: Death Certificate, Missouri State Board of Health. Cause of death is listed as silicosis.

At the time of death, Andrew lived at 118th and Grandview Road, Grandview, Mo., with his wife Cora A.

The 1900 census lists Andrew "H" Emery in Kansas City as a stonecutter of slate and marble. Verna Gail Johnson, a researcher at the Jackson County Genealogical Society in Independence, MO, says that "Andrew E. Emery is listed in 1920 as living at 4240 Euclid Ave" in Kansas City, MO, "and employed at the M. H. Rice Monument Co.".

The 1930 Census, dated April 23, 1930, for Washington Township, Jackson County, Missouri shows:

Andrew E. Emery, age 61, born in Kansas, father and mother both born in Pennsylvania. Age at first marriage: 24. That would give him a marriage year of 1894.

Obituary from Kansas City Star, August 7, 1942:

"ANDREW E. EMERY DIES.

Andrew Eli "Andy" Emery, 73 years old, a retired stone cutter, died today at his home, One Hundred Eighteenth street and Grandview road. Mr. Emery was born at Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of a stonecutter, and had followed the same craft since he was 16 years old.

He had been a resident here more than forty years. He retired two years ago after many years at the Rice Monument Company. He was a member of St. Catherine's church.

Mr. Emery leaves his wife, Mrs. Cora A. Emery of the home; a stepson, John R. Campbell, Orchard, Colorado, and a sister, Mrs. Effie Marvin, 429 Brighton Avenue." (Funeral services were held at the Stine McClure Funeral Chapel, 3235 Gillham Plaza, Kansas City, MO, on Wednesday, August 12, at 3:30 p.m.).

Andrew's child, Fred Vian Emery, was the result of a liaison with Ella Myrtle Baker.
