Private Daniel Emery served with Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Daniel Emery was born November 30, 1752 in Buxton, Massachusetts Bay, a son of James Emery and Mary "Mercy" Bean, Emery. (Note: At the time, York county was part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. (In the 1650s the Massachusetts Bay Colony asserted territorial claims over what is now southern Maine, and by 1658 had completely absorbed what is now southwestern Maine into York County, Massachusetts.) This area became York county, Maine, when the state of Maine was established March 15, 1820.

On April 30, 1778, in Scarborough, Maine, Daniel married Sarah H. Moulton, daughter of Jonathan Moulton and Sarah (Dow) Moulton. Children of Daniel and Sarah are:

  • Jonathan Emery, born November 24, 1779, died March 23, 1839, married 1)Jennie Stevens and 2) Elizabeth Clark
  • Comfort Emery, married George Strout on Jun 21, 1804, in Scarborough
  • Mercy Emery, married Nathaniel Rice, Jr. on August 25, 1808
  • Mary Dow Emery, married Phineas Harmon in 1805
  • Josiah Emery married Jane Flood

Daniel died on 11 March 1825 in Buxton, Maine[1], and is buried in the Eastern Cemetery, in Gorham, Cumberland county, Maine. [2]
