Ann (Emmitt) Graves was born in Lincolnshire, England.

Ann Emmitt was the youngest of ten children born to John Valentine Emmitt and Martha (Banks) Emmitt. She was born in 1840 in Ruskington, Lincolnshire. [1]

In 1851 she was living in Ruskington with her mother and two siblings. [2]

Ann married George Graves, of Digby, Lincolnshire on 14 May 1858. They married in Ruskington. [3] [4] In 1859, their first child, Susanna was born.

In 1861, Ann and George were now living in Dorrington, Lincolnshire with their daughter. [5] Sadly, Susanna passed away in 1868, at the age of 9. Less than a year later, their son Charles was born. They moved back to Digby by 1871, and were living with their son and a niece, Eliza. [6]

The family emigrated to the United States in 1872. [7] They were living in Webster, Wood County, Ohio in 1880, where George was a farmer. [8] Living nearby were Ann's brother Peregine Emmitt and sister Elizabeth (Emmitt) Roper.

In 1900, Ann and George were living with George's younger brother Charles, who was still single and had emigrated in 1886. Also living with them was a granddaughter, Maud. [9] They were still living with the still-single Charles in 1910, along with a different granddaughter, Grace. [10]

Ann became a widow in 1916, when her husband George passed away. Two years later, on 11 September 1918, at the age of 77, she married his brother, Charles Graves, who was 74 years old. They married in Defiance, Ohio. [11] In 1920, they were living in Richland, Defiance, Ohio. [12]

Preceding her husband in death, Ann passed away on 24 January 1931, at the age of 90. [13] She is buried with her first husband, George, in Ayersville Cemetery. [14]
