Biography

Lived in Preble County, Ohio in 1836 as described by the below source on John Endecott. Preble is right on the Indiana border. Owned land in Rush County, Indiana as well. Barzillai was born in 1776. He is the son of Barzillai Endicott and Ann Morton.

From the Descendants of John Endecott:

"The Endecotts were of the class of pioneers who wished to find good land on which to build, where they could plants their crops and where they could raise their large families of healthy children. They wished to make per- manent homes so they got clear titles to their land. They were strong in body and mind, stout of heart and resolute of will.

However there always have been members of the family to whom the call of far away places has been irresistible. Over on the other side of the mountains lay the “Promised Land.”

Indiana Territory, beyond the Ohio, offered golden opportunities for the future to all who would “enter in and possess the land.” Hard work and self-denial were the pre- requisites, but the Endecott men and women were unafraid.

In 1815 a company of Kentucky families from the vicinity of Cynthiana immigrated to Posey Co., Indiana. Jos- eph son of Moses, his wife and 5 small sons were in the group.

From 1818 to 1820 other Endecotts settled in Robb and Smith townships; Aaron, son of Thomas Sr., his wife and five daughters, his married son and daughters and their families; Jesse, son of Moeses, and family; John A., son of Moses, and his family; Widow Nancy Forest and her family.

Even old age had not cured Thomas Sr. of the crav- ing to be on the move. At the &ge of 80 he sold his posses- sions in Ky. and with his wife, Susannah, and their small son, Absolam Turner, removed to Posey Co. In March 1831 lie died at his farm home, one and one half miles south of Cynthiana at the age of 94. He had seen life in New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Indiana. "
