Margaretha was born on 29 November 1810 in Ollmuth, Schöndorf, Trier, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland, to Franz Endres and Catharina Koltes[1][2]. She would not marry[1] nor have children.
It appears that they may have immigrated and arrived in New York City on the 27th of May, 1850, on the Elisha Denison ship[3], with Michel(30), Margaretha(40), Maria(22), Catherinea(23), and Lucia(23) on the same ship. If so, they departed from Antwerp for their journey. She listed herself as a farmer[4].
On 21 October 1855, she purchased 60 acres of land in the Town of Springfield from Valentin Gertfrach; the SE 1/4 of the SW 1/4 and the E 1/2 of the SW 1/4, section 11, Town 8.[1]
On 14 December 1864, she purchased lot 12, block 9 of the Unversity addition to the village of Maidson from John Zahnphennig. On March 8, 1866 this lot was assigned to Matthias Roland (her brother in law)[1]
In 1870, she was seen living with her brother-in-law Matthias Roland and sister Anna Maria Endres Roland in Dane, Dane County, Wisconsin[5], and in 1875 continues to be in Dane County, Wisconsin[6]
She died in Dane County, Wisconsin[1] on the 27th of July 1878 and would be buried in the Saint Michael Cemetery inDane, Dane County, Wisconsin[7]
Relatively little is known about the eldest child of Franz Endres and Catharina Koltes. Her birth in Ollmuth, Germany, was on 4 November 1810. The US Census records evidence the fact that she was in Wisconsin. It is known that in 1860, she was living in the Town of Dane with her brother Nicholaus, and in 1870, she was living in the Town of Springfield with her sister Maria Endres Roland. There is no record of her in the Census of 1880, and we may assume she died between 1870 and 1880. However, no death date is noted in Wisconsin records, nor was a burial site found. The final days of Margaret Endres, unmarried, must remain a mystery. She may be in an unmarked grave in the cemetery in Dane with her brother and sister; however, all old records of St. Michael's Church, Dane, Wisconsin, were destroyed by a fire.[1]
