Karoline was born in 1845, the daughter of Henry Frederic William and Anna Marie Elizabeth (Siekmeyer) Englebrecht. She, her younger brohter Ernst, and her parents emigrated to the United States and arrived in New Orleans in 1851. In 1864 she married John Baylor, and they had five children together. She passed away in 1931.
