By 1870, David left his wife and child and moved to California, United States. Nancy lived in her brother's home in Athens, Clarke, Georgia, United States.[4]
He lived in Hollister Judicial Township, San Benito, California, United States in 1880 with a new wife, Martha Dyer.[5]
In 1900, Daniel was widowed and living as a boarder in Judicial Township 3, Fresno, California, United States at age seventy-four (74).[6]
He died in Fresno, California, United States.
