Biography

William Edward Engle was born on May 6, 1856 in Roundhead, Hardin, Ohio to John Engle and Sarah Darst

He married Rina McCracken first on April 24, 1880 in Howell County, Missouri[1], then again on November 25, 1882 in Howell County, Missouri[2]. They had six children:

  1. John Engle born August 24, 1884 in West Plains
  2. Rosella Engle born February 4, 1886 in West Plains
  3. Clara Engle born November 1887 in West Plains
  4. Mary Bell Engle born November 24, 1889 in West Plains
  5. Alma Alta Engle born May 12, 1892 in West Plains
  6. Charles Edward Engle born October 22, 1894 in West Plains

William was charged with bigamy when he married Rina while she had already been married to K C Foster[3].

William died on September 24, 1941 in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska at the age of eighty-five. He is buried at Tekamah Cemetery[4].
