Philip Engle was born October 8, 1743, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, and died November 21, 1830, in Jefferson county, Virginia. Philip is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for furnishing supplies to the Continental Army, in Virginia. [11] Philip was twice married, first to Mary Darke and secondly to Isabella Pollock. Application for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of his sons, William Darke Engle, who married Mary Lemon; Michael Engle, who married Elizabeth Pollock; Philp Engle, who married Lydia Ellen Daniels; John M. Engle, who married Hannah Koonce; George Engle, who married Elizabeth Koontz; and Joseph Engle, who married Sarah Edmondson; and of his daughter, Elizabeth Engle, who married Isaac Hutchinson. [12]
